MOUNT VERNON — The Fruit Growers Marketing Association, a cooperative apple-growing organization, held its annual shareholders and marketing meeting Tuesday morning at Glen Hill Orchards on Glen Road. The meeting hosted growers from all over the state of Ohio to discuss their yearly business and marketing plans for the new apple season, which began July 1.

FGMA markets apples under the Ohio Apples brand, according to Glen Hill Orchards owner Maureen Buchwald, who hosted the meeting.

The orchards that were represented at the meeting were mostly commercial orchards, without pick-your-own options, according to Buchwald. Two of the farms include pick-your-own options, and several of the orchards include farm markets, she said.
