MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University and Head Coach Ryan Farr of MVNU Men’s Lacrosse hosted the first ever Lacrosse Prospect Day on Saturday, and five different states were represented by the participants.
It was a beautiful day on the campus of MVNU, as the new club program for 2018-2019 welcomed over 25 prospective student-athletes and their families.
Participants were from Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, and Florida, and they were treated to a jam-packed five hours that included lacrosse skill-work, a campus tour from MVNU Admissions, an Admissions presentation called “Roadmap to Recruiting” (to help athletes better understand the recruiting process from both the admissions and athletics perspective), and of course some scrimmaging.
MVNU Athletics and Coach Ryan Farr truly hope all participants and families enjoyed their time at MVNU.
“I couldn’t be more excited about the quality guys that we had come out,” expressed Farr.
“From a talent perspective and, most importantly, a character perspective, we feel there were a ton of guys that fit the mold of our “blue collar mentality.” We also know that there were some recruits present at the Prospect Day that will be with the team next fall and we can’t wait to welcome them to the MVNU Lacrosse family.”
Following its inaugural 2018-2019 season, the men’s lacrosse program will launch as MVNU’s 17th varsity sport during the 2019-2020 season. The addition of men’s lacrosse is one of many anticipated new offerings to come over the next four years as MVNU looks to grow enrollment through the addition of new athletic teams, creating further opportunities for prospective students.
