“Yeah, I think so, because I think it will help the farmer. I think it will help in the long term. The short term, that’s going to be an adjustment, I think it will help the farmer out in some way. This morning they said GDP growth was 4.1, which is the highest it’s been in many, many years, so the economy’s really starting to pick up. I think in the long run it’s going to help, because also last month there’s been $52 billion surplus adjustment in exports, so we’re moving in the right direction. I think that Trump’s doing a good job and he doesn’t get a lot of credit, because liberal media won’t give it to him.”

Doug Coole, Mansfield

“ It’s going to change, but temporarily, it’s the right response for now. Well, we gotta straighten up the price.”

Wally Thomen, Centerburg

“Honestly, I haven’t really given it much thought at this point. I guess I’ve just kind of been busy with fair.”

Lisa Lyons, Danville

“Well, I don’t think the tariffs should be there in the first place. So considering that they are there, I do think they should do something to help farmers, but I’m sure most farmers I know would prefer to just be able to market their crops, not receive aid.”

Mary Wiard, Newark

“These communities around here, these lands that have the soybeans and corn, that’s our strength, that’s our power. Sure (the aid should be provided) we have to be strong, to be strong. You know what that means? We don’t support them, guess what happens? Bad things happen. The tariff is good. Trump ain’t playing when he tells them what’s happening, we’ve got kicked in the teeth so many times.”

Richard Luzader, Columbus

“I think the farmers would rather give that up and have reas onable trade.”

Kathy Hudson, Westerville
