MOUNT VERNON — A jury found a Gambier man guilty of charges of murder and tampering with evidence.

Kevin Remillard, 49, will be sentenced on the charges Aug. 24.

The jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning a verdict.

Remillard was charged with murdering his cousin, Nick Remillard, 20, June 10, 2017 at a Gambier home where they lived together. Remillard was convicted of shooting Nick in the head with a firearm he took from a neighbor’s residence.

Remillard was further convicted on the tampering with evidence charge for sinking Nick’s body in a swimming pool, weighting it down with a water pump. Remillard also disposed of the firearm, disassembling it and throwing the pieces into a pond and the Kokosing River near Mount Vernon.
