MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Area Development Foundation takes the leading role in creating and fostering economic development throughout Knox County. The efforts, however, are rooted deeply within the city of Mount Vernon.

During Monday night’s Mount Vernon City Council meeting, Jeffry Harris, president of ADF, addressed council to discuss the partnership between the organization and the city in response to a councilman suggesting the city needed to hire an economic developer.

“After the last meeting, I thought there was some comments made by council members that would indicate we haven’t done a very good job talking about the relationship the city has with the Area Development Foundation,” said Mayor Richard Mavis.
