MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Career Center Board of Education held its monthly meeting Thursday and discussed the next step in the building’s roofing project.
The roof will need to be completely replaced, according to Treasurer Tracy Elliott. Various renovations over the years, including a coating, have caused moisture to be trapped between the layers of renovations, Elliott explained to the News. The moisture has seeped through the layers and the district has been advised to construct a new roof.
Superintendent Kathy Greenich updated the board on the selection of an architect and design firm during the meeting. The district has received statements and qualifications from several firms and hopes to select a firm for the project by Aug. 1.
