MOUNT VERNON — The Regional Planning Commission Thursday recommended approval of three zoning changes in Jefferson Township and the amendment of a zoning definition in Monroe Township.

In Jefferson Township, Kevin Mooney, owner of The Mohicans on Vess Road, wants to change the zoning designation of 71 acres, which includes an event barn and lodging (treehouses and cabins) from agricultural to business “to bring it more closely into compliance” with township zoning classification.

The Land Use Committee, which reviewed the application, recommended the change be approved, but the current use doesn’t fit well in any of the township’s current zoning classifications.
