MOUNT VERNON — Linda S. Elkins, 72, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. She was born Dec. 3, 1945, in Dayton, the daughter of Harold and Edna (Katzenbach) Isbel. Linda retired in 2009 from the United States Census Bureau and also worked as a rural route carrier for 17 years with the Mount Vernon News.

Linda was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Amity where she served as secretary and treasurer. She enjoyed riding horses and was an avid collector of zebras, but most important to her was the quality time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband of over 32 years, Charley Elkins; her children, Sharon (Charles) Monteith of Hebron, Jamie (Tiffany) Elkins of McConnelsville and Jeremie (Austin) Elkins of Newark; three step-children; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Harold Isbel of Union.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashlei Baker; two sisters, Patricia (Bob) Brown and Virginia (Jim) Welch; son-in-law, Cary Baker; sister-in-law, Sharon Isbel; and mother-in-law, Nellie Elkins Huggins.

Friends may call Saturday, July 21, from 1-3 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will follow beginning at 3 p.m. Pastor Bruce Butler will be officiating.

Memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be made to Grace Baptist Church of Amity.
