MOUNT VERNON — Middle school aged Chinese exchange students from Shanghai are getting a taste of small town America as they visit and tour county sites, and stay with local families from July 6-17.

This program is coordinated through the cultural exchange group Forte International exchange program. The program this year has 40 students attending from three schools in Shanghai.

The bulk of the program, explained program coordinator Perry Brokaw, is to engage the students in cultural pursuits, while they are attending English classes in America.

The students attend English classes, as well as dance and physical education classes every morning at Twin Oak Elementary school.
