PICKERINGTON — It is with great sadness that the family of Leroy Carter Jr. announces his passing Friday, June 29, 2018, at the age of 84 years. Leroy will be remembered by his loving wife, Becky; his children, Alan (Kayla), Trista (Wayne Dorschu), and Kellie (Marissa); step-daughters, Mary Beth (Kevin) Riley and Angela Cordiano; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Leroy is preceded in death by his first wife, Jan; his parents, and siblings, Richard and Rose. Leroy was born in Newark, to Lena Marie (Varner) and Leroy Carter, Sr. He served in Germany with the US Army and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Education. He lived most of his life in Utica, where he coached basketball and track and taught industrial arts. He was the first Supervisor of Adult Education at Licking County Joint Vocational School and served as President and Board Member of the North Fork School District. Leroy had a life-long love of woodworking, antiques, and travel, and he was a renowned storyteller.

Family will receive friends Sunday, July 15, starting at 3 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg. Officiating Fr. William L. Arnold and Dr. Josh Carter. Internment and graveside service at South Lawn Cemetery in Utica Monday, July 16, at 10:30 am.
