MOUNT VERNON – In the last game of the winner’s bracket, Kiwanis Club overcame an early deficit Thursday to rally in a 14-4 win over the Elks Club to secure a spot in the Knox County Babe Ruth City Tournament championship game.

In the top of the first inning, Sam Printz put Kiwanis on the board, scoring on an RBI single by R.T. Troyer. The Elks got runners aboard and moved them around in the bottom of the first. Jared Blankenship and Brice Dobbs both scored on a two-RBI single by Tyler Miligan in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead.

After both teams were scoreless in the second and third, Kiwanis put up three runs in the fourth, with Bryce Hensen, Michael Pruitt and Drew Mandy all scoring. Those three runs put the score in Kiwanis’ favor, 4-2. The Elks’ Ethan Temple scored on an RBI double for a quick answer, trimming the lead to 4-3.
