HOWARD — East Knox schools treasurer Jessica Busenberg reported the district to be in solid financial standing. She reported operating revenue in the general fund is up $978,000, which is a total increase of 8.8 percent over the last fiscal year.

She went on to explain that $759,000 was tax revenue with the passing of the operating levy.

She also reported expenses to be up $501,000, which is a five percent increase over last fiscal year, due to new positions added from the levy, as well as new contracts with the teacher’s union.

The starting cash balance for the start of fiscal year 2019 is $5 million, Busenberg reported.
