MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon 12-and-under All-Star baseball team picked up an 8-3 win over Guernsey County on Wednesday to secure a spot in the District 5 Little League Tournament championship game.
Guernsey County started off the game strong. Their first two batters made it on base and worked their way around to score, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead after the top of the first. Similar to the first inning, Guernsey County got things going off the bat in the second inning, with the lead-off runner again plating a run to push the visitor’s advantage to 3-1.
After being blanked in the second inning, Mount Vernon came alive in the third. Reece Schuman reached base on a single and Camden Stitt drew a walk right after.
