GAMBIER — With the Fourth of July festivities in the past, the village of Gambier will turn its focus back on trees and construction.

Mayor Kachen Kimmell used her speech to introduce a new tree ordinance the council will be drafting this month for a first reading at August’s council meeting. While they haven’t had much response yet, Kimmell told the News she is hoping more citizens will come to the meetings and any public forums they have for the new ordinance to share their thoughts with the council.

Kimmell added the village does not yet know when ODOT will be paving Gambier’s part of Ohio 308. They are waiting to hear back from ODOT on a start date, but she did note that they have placed their signs in the area, covering them until they begin paving. They were originally due to be finished last month, but delays set back the schedule.
