CENTERBURG — The July meeting of the Centerburg local schools board of education opened up fiscal year 2019 in a healthy place.

The board approved the total amount from all available sources to open up the fiscal year, as well as approved the temporary appropriations.

Treasurer Ellen Scott described the district as being in a very good spot at the start of the fiscal year, with a total cash balance of just over $9,224,946.

Scott also detailed $50,461 in the food service fund, which has drastically improved, as this district fund was in the negative in 2014. Centerburg schools has just completed five years with Nutrition Group and has signed another five-year contract with this supplier.
