MOUNT VERNON — Roy C. Steinmetz, 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018, with his loving family at his side.

He was born April 22, 1932, near Gambier to the late Lawrence and Edna (Butcher) Steinmetz. Roy was employed and retired from Cooper Energy Services after 44 years of service as a General Supervisor. He enjoyed his Monday Night Jammers, playing music, singing and his membership at the Pine Street First Church of God. Roy also enjoyed farming, mowing and wintering in Florida. But most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Janell (Tom) Reynolds, Jill (John) Shriver; his son, Criss (Debra) Steinmetz; eight grandchildren, Corey (Andrea) Sites, Clinton (Audrey) Baker, Troy Reynolds, Travis (Jill) Reynolds, Tracey (Bryan) Zink, Derrick (Shannon) Steinmetz, Jordan (Elyssa) Shriver, Jamison Shriver; 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary (Janice) Steinmetz; and his sisters, Ilene Bird and Eleanor Doup.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife of over 62 years, Beatrice Steinmetz.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Pine Street First Church of God, 10 Pine St., Mount Vernon. A service will follow, beginning at noon, with Pastor Bill Fulda officiating. Burial will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pelotonia, The American Heart Association or Pine Street First Church of God – Building Fund.
