MOUNT VERNON — Following review of surveillance video of a Newark man’s apparent suicide at Ariel-Foundation Park, the Foundation Park Conservancy is looking at additional safety measures that may also include Rastin Tower.

Foundation Park Conservancy President Kim Rose said that a review of surveillance from the June 20 death of Ricky Snyder Jr., 35, resulted in several findings, including proposals for increased security and safety measures at the park.

Rose declined to say what the safety/security measures may be, but said Rastin Tower is included, as well as the park in general.

“We took a total review of the safety of the park and will be making some modifications, most of which will not be noticeable,” Rose said.

Rose said the review of the footage, held June 29 with the park conservancy board, resulted in three findings: That there were no failures of the safety measures in place; that Snyder’s death was an unforeseeable incident and that minor modifications were identified to park safety and security.
