Beginnings, from Long Island, New York, rocked the crowd with songs from the band Chicago and other ’70s and ’80s songs before fireworks at Ariel-Foundation Park on Independence Day.

  • The city of Mount Vernon celebrated  Independence Day with fireworks at Ariel-Foundation Park Wednesday night. The 20-minute show wowed and astounded those in attendance. The park was busy with activity all day, including concerts at the Schnormeier Event Center, food trucks and of course, fishing at the lakes.
