MOUNT VERNON — Ruth A. Davis, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at her home. She was born April 23, 1934, in Monroe County, the daughter of William and Cecelia (Hunkler) Howiler. Ruth moved to Mount Vernon in 1949 and retired in 1994 from AMG Industries after 25 years of employment.

Ruth enjoyed playing bingo and was a collector of many things. She was a member of the Brandon Baptist Church and was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children, JoAnna (Scott Trombley) Litt of Sunbury and Greg (Sue) Davis of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Casie Litt, Samantha (Andrew) Phillips, Treg Davis, Reanna Davis and Ashley Davis; four great-grandchildren, Conner, Cole, Chloe and Zoey. She is also survived by a brother, James (Juanita) Howiler of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Joe Davis; a son, Jeffrey Davis; a grandson, Trever Davis; three brothers, Paul Howiler, Marvin Howiler, William Howiler; and two sisters, Mary Triplett and Geraldine Carpenter.

The family will observe a private graveside service in Brandon Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Ruth A. Davis.

Memorial contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to the Brandon Baptist Church, 13513 Sycamore Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
