MOUNT VERNON — Joanie Calem, folk musician, singer/song-writer, story-teller and disability inclusion advocate for all ages will perform as part of the Summer Music Garden concert series on July 15. The concert will be from 4-6 p.m.

An active member of the Children’s Music Network, Calem leads interactive song and story programs at festivals, schools, libraries and parks, inviting her audiences to make friends, build community, and have fun as we all sing and dance together.

On Aug. 12, Duke Otherwise will return for a second year, with his guitar, tap shoes and distinct baritone, from 4-6 p.m. Otherwise performs a hilarious, charming and interactive musical program for all ages. He writes original songs bursting with clever wordplay and fun ideas relatable to both kids and adults. From Madison, Wisconsin, Otherwise was recently invited to be a featured performer at KindieComm in Philadelphia opening for this year’s Grammy-winner Tim Kubart.

Summer Music Garden concerts are held in the Children’s Garden at the Knox County Career Center. Chairs are not provided, so bring lawn seats or blankets and a picnic if desired. Bottled water is provided. For more information, visit www.summermusicgarden.com or call 740-507-3579.
