HOMER — The Homer Library, located at 385 South St. NW in Homer, has announced the following events for July:

•Thursday, July 5, at 2 p.m.: Sing Along. Sing along with the Von Trapp family in “The Sound of Music.” This a tuneful, heartwarming story about one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Fresh buttery popcorn will be served. Everyone is welcome.

•Monday, July 9, at 11 a.m.: Recipe Exchange. The theme for the recipe exchange will be side dishes that compliment barbecue meat. Friday Night Smoke of Centerburg will be providing the barbecue. You may bring a favorite dish or try a new dish to accompany this award winning barbecue. Share good food and fellowship. Bring the prepared dish and the recipe. Table service and drinks provided.

•Wednesday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m.: Summer Reading. Sarah Goslee Reed will share folk music on her guitar and violin. The children will be involved with singing, rhythms and hand motions. Reading and activity will begin the program.

•Thursday, July 12, at 2 p.m.: Sing Along. Belt out some of your favorite songs with the cast of “Frozen.” If you wish you may come in costume as your favorite character from the movie. Popcorn will be served.

•Wednesday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m.: Summer Reading. Hands-On Brazilian Samba Drum Workshop by Eric Paton; Eric will share the infectious rhythm from the anthem of Brazil. Children will have the opportunity to perform with him on a variety of samba drums. Reading and activity will begin the program. There will be refreshments served at the conclusion of the program.

•Thursday, July 19, at 6 p.m.: Mary Miller & Friends. Join national touring comedian, humorist and inspirational speaker, Mary Miller. Mary and her friends will share an evening of music, laughter and sing along fun for all.

•Tuesday, July 24, at 7 p.m.: Homer Historical Society. There will be discussion of local history and genealogy.

•Thursday, July 26, at 6 p.m.: Ukulele Lessons. Ukulele lessons at the library with instructor, Tom Kimble. Registration is required. Call or stop by the library to reserve your spot.

•Friday, July 27, at 11 a.m.: Book Club. The book selection is “The Missing Place” by Sophie Littlefield. Reserve your copy by calling or stopping by the library. Join us for an informal, interesting and lively discussion.

The Summer Reading programs, July 11 and 18, as well as the Mary Miller & Friends program, July 19, are available to the community thanks to a grant from the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services awarded by the State Library of Ohio.
