MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon City Council adopted 10 resolutions Monday night by voting to suspended the three required readings. Legislation allows the safety-service director to contract for services, sell and purchase vehicles and permits the auditor to make transfers and pay bills.

Adopted legislation includes:

•Authorized the safety-service to sell a 2016 Chevy Impala used by the police by sealed bid and a 1994 Chevy 3500HD by sealed bid or trade;

•Authorized safety-service director to contract with CT Consultants for engineering for water and sewer improvements on Woodside Drive, South McKenzie, Kirk and Clay streets;

City Engineer Brian Ball explained multiple line breaks have occurred recently in the Kirk Street area. A small service line extends into Clay Street which is scheduled for paving soon. The city plans to order the parts necessary so city employees can make the repairs before a massive fail happens. Residents near Woodside Drive have requested to connect to city water services and the city is willing to do so.
