MOUNT VERNON — Over 70 art and writing pieces filled the Ohio Eastern Star Home on Friday with the annual Leading Age Art and Writing Show.

Judging of the over 70 pieces, in 20 different categories, took place from 9-11 a.m., with the show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. open for the public to enjoy all of the different entries. They also served lunch and drinks to attendees.

This is the third year Eastern Star has participated in the show and its first year hosting the District One competition, which includes areas from Zanesville to Waverly, said Marci Thomas, Eastern Star life enrichment coordinator. She explained that judges for all of the categories were made up of a team of professionals in related fields, and the top three winners in each category will move on to the state competition in Columbus in August.
