HOWARD — The East Knox Board of Education approved the funding of a school resource officer for the upcoming school year in partnership with the Knox County Board of Commissioners.

Sheriff David Shaffer was on hand Thursday night to introduce the SRO, Deputy David Nally. Shaffer explained that the board and the sheriff’s department had been in communication to fund an officer for the schools last school year, but was unable to reach an agreement. With the involvement of the commissioners and a pledge for funding, an agreement was made.
