DANVILLE — The monthly meeting of the Danville Local Schools board of education formally approved a memorandum of understanding with the Danville Police Department to fund a school resource officer for the upcoming school year.

Danville Chief of Police Dan Weckesser attended the meeting to address last minute questions from the board and explained the funding system. The total cost of the SRO will be at $60,000 for the year, with $15,000 pledged from the Danville Police Department and the Village of Danville, and an additional $15,000 coming from the school board’s general fund.
