DANVILLE — Danville Village Council did three things to help village youth Monday.

First, they accepted a bid for installing a new furnace/air conditioning unit at the library. The library has been without an air conditioner for several weeks, and the council agreed to accept the bid from Mickley Plumbing and Heating over two others that were submitted.

The 2 1/2 ton unit will cost $5,450 and will heat and cool the library, which is a portion of the municipal building.

Second, council decided on going with a two-bay swing set for the village park. A Knox County Health Department Creating Healthy Communities grant of $8,000 will help pay for the new swingset, as well as a safety surface around the set. The project is expected to cost between $8,000 and $9,000 and the village will pay whatever is not covered by the grant.

The set will include an infant swing, as well as an inclusive swing-along for those children not able to use a regular swing. It will be ordered in August with installation expected later that month or in early September.
