MOUNT VERNON — Nellie M. Elkins Huggins, 82, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at her residence. She was born May 22, 1936, in Wayne, West Virginia, to the late Charlie and Nannie (Blankenship) Perry.

Nellie graduated from Wayne High School in West Virginia and soon married Earsel Elkins. She was a STNA and retired from Morning View Care Center in Condit. Nellie was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Amity for over eight years. She loved going to garage sales, word puzzles, but most of all she loved being around her family.

She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Pam) Elkins, Charley (Linda) Elkins, Earsel (Sarah) Elkins; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Goldie Adkins; several nieces, nephews and great-niece, Brittany Bonham.

Along with her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her first husband, Earsel Elkins; second husband, Walter Huggins; granddaughter, Mary Anne Elkins; great-granddaughter, Ashlei Baker; brothers, Garnnett Perry, Charles Pery; a sister, Opal Ross; a great niece, Sandy Elkins-Stelk.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 18, from 5-7 p.m., with a funeral service on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in Trenton Cemetery in Sunbury.
