FREDERICKTOWN — For Fredericktown resident and former Glasgow School of Art student Carolyn Webster, there was little she could do on this side of the Atlantic. She could only watch her television as a treasured landmark went up in flames.
Only months ago, Webster, living in Scotland, would walk past the Mackintosh Building while making her way to classes at the world-famous art school. Along the way, she would never fail to marvel at ‘The Mack,’ as the locals in Glasgow called it.
“It did stand out because the people talked so highly about it,” she said. “I remember on one of the first days of orientation, we took a tour of the newer building right across the street from it. You could see through the window many of the design aspects of (the Mackintosh Building). Our tour guide spoke so highly of it. You could see her eyes light up when she talked about the building.”
