MOUNT VERNON — A free showing of the animated film “Paddington 2” (PG 2017) will be held Thursday, at 10 a.m. at Mount Vernon Premier Theaters/UEC, 11535 Upper Gilchrist Road, for children as part of the “Libraries Rock!” Summer Reading Program.

The event will be open to children through sixth grade and their friends and families. This is combined program for the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, Mount Vernon, and branch libraries: Fredericktown Community Library, Danville Public Library and the Gambier Community Library.

Paddington Bear, now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen.

The movie is free to the public and is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library. All theaters will be available to show the same film in the event of a large turnout. Refreshments will be available.
