MOUNT VERNON — The annual Go Pink For The Cure golf and table game outing, formerly Rally For the Cure, is back for its 20th year.
The fundraiser will be held at the Mount Vernon Country Club Saturday, June 23, and will feature a nine-hole golf scramble, table games including euchre, mahjong and bridge and additional fundraisers with a basket raffle and a 50/50 raffle. The event will benefit the Foundation for Knox Community Hospital with all funds being directed towards women’s breast health.
Go Pink for the Cure Chair Barbara Barry explained that the committee previously worked with the breast cancer-focused foundation, Susan G. Komen. The funds would be sent to SGK in Columbus and nearly a fourth, according to Barry, would be sent back to the Knox County community. However, Barry explained, when the foundation announced that all funds would be kept in Columbus, the committee decided to partner with The Foundation for KCH instead, keeping 100 percent of the funds raised in Knox County.
In addition to participation fees and the money raised through the raffles, the Go Pink for the Cure committee receives sponsorships from individuals and businesses. Barry said that the committee hopes to raise as much as last year which was roughly $21,000.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with an 8:45 a.m. start time for the golf scramble and a 9:00 a.m. start time for the the table games. Lunch, awards and the announcement of basket and 50/50 raffle winners will follow at noon. Those wishing to sign-up may do so by calling Barry at 740-398-7862 or emailing her at email@example.com through Thursday, June 21.
