MOUNT VERNON — The city Planning Commission is likely to take another step in the long process of the Middle School redevelopment when it meets at 4 p.m., Thursday.

The owners of the property, Jason and Larry Gunsorek, doing business as Mulberry MV LLC, have requested the rezoning of the 301 N. Mulberry site of the old middle school from Neighborhood Commercial to R-3 (multi-family residential).

The owners plan to convert the site into an apartment complex, but little has been happening there since the city was ready to consider condemning the property last year and the owners acted to secure the property against vandals and intruders.
