MOUNT VERNON — Joanne M. Flinn, 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Country Club Retirement Campus surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1931, in Kenton, to the late Ray and Pauline (Hatch) Myers.

Joanne was a member of the First Christian Church where she was a former Deaconess and on the worship and kitchen committee. She was a 1949 Kenton High School graduate. Joanne had worked for Uhlman’s Department Store in Mount Vernon and Kenton. She was a former Lioness with the Lions Club and an avid OSU football and basketball fan.

Joanne’s pride and joy was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie (Dan) James of Ridgeway, Mary Kay (Tim) Higgins of Mount Vernon; three step-children, Bruce (Kay) Flinn of Middle Point, Carol Simon of Lima and Linda (Lyle) Stemen of Sylvania; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Nevin K. Flinn, whom she married on Aug. 24, 1963.

Friends may call on Friday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lasater Funeral Home, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon, where funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Grove Cemetery in Kenton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s memory to: Nationwide Children’s Hospital Heart Center or Capital City Hospice.
