CENTERBURG — Juanita Lea “Nitie” Powell, 75, of Centerburg, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, at her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born June 15, 1942, in Mount Liberty to the late Otto and Emma Sarah (Snavely) Butler.

Nitie was employed for many years as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) at Canterbury Villa Nursing Home where she impacted many lives with her care and compassion. Nitie volunteered for the Centerburg Interchurch Social Services and attended The Church at Chapel Hill.

Nitie is survived by her husband, Donald Powell; two daughters, Krista (David) Compton and Angela (Ronald) Miller; five grandchildren, Chelsea Skaggs, Emmie Miller, Carly Compton, Cara Miller and Kendall Compton; her great grandson, Emerson Skaggs; her brother, Paul (Dena) Butler; and her sisters, Donna McFarland and Helen Purdy.

In addition to her parents, Nitie was preceded in death by her sister, Eva McCann.

A graveside service will be held in Bloomfield Cemetery on Monday, June 11, 2018, beginning at 1 p.m.
