MOUNT VERNON — In 2013, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown began organizing summer manufacturing camps around the state to introduce Ohio students to the opportunities available in manufacturing. This year the number of camps is growing to 19, including one in Knox County to be conducted by Goal Digital Academy at The Escape Zone, 1 Mansfield St. The dates are June 25-29 and is aimed at students entering seventh to ninth grades.

The four-day camp will help students learn about manufacturing, teamwork and local production facilities. Brown’s office partners with local organizations to put on the camp, to encourage young people to explore careers in manufacturing.

Students and parents can check Brown’s website for more information at www.brown.senate.gov/summer-manufacturing-camps. The camps generally have a cost and need-based scholarships are available to students eligible for free or reduced lunch.
