HOWARD — William S. Ulery, 81, of Howard, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at his residence. He was born on Aug. 3, 1936, in Mount Vernon, to the late Clyde and Grace (Strang) Ulery.

Bill owned and operated the Strang Glass Shop for over 60 years in Mount Vernon. He was an active member of the Aladdin Shriners “Shrine Clubs” Baldwin of Mount Vernon, Mount Zion Lodge #9 F&AM, Knox Chapter # 236 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy Patron. Bill graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1954 and joined the United States Army in 1955, serving his country proudly. He was also in the Army Reserves and National Guard.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Grimm) Ulery; sons, Jeff (Andrea) Ulery, Dean (Karen) Underwood; daughter, Kathy Ulery; grandchildren, Candace, Jordan, Cory, and Jamie; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Paul) Doup; daughter, Rebecca Ulery; uncles, Fay Strang, John Ulery; nieces, Barb (Doup) Mowery and Diane (Doup) Rutherford.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to: Shriners children’s hospital;; Ulery Knox County Career Center Scholarship Fund, 1 S. Main St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050; or Strang Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 309, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
