MOUNT VERNON — A cancer survivor is anyone living with a history of cancer. All survivors in the Knox County community, and two guests, are invited to attend Knox Community Hospital’s annual Cancer Survivor Event on Thursday, June 28.

Held at the Gallagher Centre at Ohio Eastern Star, doors open for registration at 5 p.m., with program and speakers beginning at 6:15 p.m.

The theme of this year’s event is Journey of Hope with featured speaker Dr. Daniel Shapiro.

“A funny thing happened on my way to chemotherapy” is the laugh out loud funny and moving account of a young man facing the diagnosis of a serious lymphoma. A psychologist and professor with expertise from both sides of the bed, Dr. Shapiro shines humor and insight on the cancer experience.

Seating will be limited to survivors and two guests, and reservations must be made by calling 740-393-9621 by Friday, June 22.
