MOUNT VERNON — Sammie Lavender isn’t any stranger to the mound on a softball diamond. Just two days ago she was playing in the Regional Finals for the Danville Blue Devils in the OHSAA tournament, and now she is tearing it up in the 16u Mount Vernon Girls Softball League.

Lavender was able to start off the day for Complete Comfort with two perfect innings with two strikeouts, and hitting two singles, a double and an RBI offensively, leading her team to a 16-0 victory over White Oak.

Lavender was relieved after the second inning by Malaya Sherman, who pitched the remaining two innings perfect as well. Sherman also contributed at the plate with a single.
