MOUNT VERNON — Ariel-Foundation Park will host the first of five free summer “Monday Movies” at Schnormeier Event Center on Monday at 8:30 p.m. The film will be Lionsgate Film’s “Wonder” which is rated PG and has a running time of one hour and 53 minutes.

Based on the New York Times bestseller and starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay, “Wonder” tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to discover their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets but event center chairs will also be available. As a reminder, external food/drink, smoking and pets are prohibited in the event center.

Children ages 18 and under will receive one free slice of pizza (while supplies last) and other snack items will be available for purchase.
