Three FHS relay teams set for D3 state championships
FREDERICKTOWN — Once is usually pretty good. Twice is even better. But, three times — That’s incredible.
The Fredericktown boys track team is doing something that very few teams have ever done — they have three relay teams running in this Friday’s Division III state track meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at Ohio State University.
“It’s a great opportunity. I didn’t expect to make three races to the state meet,” said senior track star Alex Hamilton.
“It’s pretty exciting. It’s been amazing seeing these kids make it this far,” said Fredericktown sprint coach Brennan Goeppinger.
Hamilton and classmates Cole Davis and Zayde Zolman will be running in all three events — the 4×100-meter dash, the 4×200 and the 4×400. They have a different fourth for each of the races — Colton Riel in the 100, Chance Campbell in the 200 and Paden Spencer in the 400 — but they are still doing something that’s never been done in Fredericktown track history.
