MOUNT VERNON — After a scoreless first inning, We Luv Pets’ bats came alive in a 19-2 victory over F&C Trucking in Mount Vernon Girls Softball League 12U action Tuesday at Memorial Park.

We Luv Pets (4-2) was able to bring together 12 hits which also allowed 11 runs to score in that huge inning.

The second-inning rally started off with Sarah Misarti who was able to produce a three-run single.

It didn’t take long for Misarti’s teammates to follow her role. Adyn Hicks, Trinity Smith, Emma Dean, Taylor Johnston and Alyse Christopher all batted runners in on their hits the same inning.

The bats however didn’t just stop after that, Leigh Schmitt had three singles throughout the game. Kaitlyn Thompson (one of the players who helped ignite the team’s big second inning) finished the day with two singles, and Taylor Puzines was able to reach base via walk twice. The highlight of We Luv Pets’ hit fest was Leigh Johnson’s three-run homer in the top of the fifth inning.
