PICKERINGTON — The dream of back-to-back state Final Four appearances for the Danville softball team was slashed by a tiger.

The Tigers of Strasburg-Franklin hit the ball all over the field, putting the pressure on Danville early and rolling to an 11-5 victory in the Division IV regional finals Saturday at Pickerington Central.

“I think we made some mistakes early on and it was just hard to work back,” said Danville coach Jill Lyons. “I don’t think the girls ever gave up. They continued to try to hit the ball. It’s a game of inches. We just didn’t win that fight today.”

The Tigers (22-5) came out swinging, scoring two in the opening inning. They added six more in the third, thanks to a little help from the Danville defense, and looked to be in control.
