Joshua Morrison/News Gambier Mayor Kachen Kimmell has concerns with the visibility of this intersection at Ohio 308 and Ward Street in the village. She hopes an engineering firm can help provide ways to improve safety.

GAMBIER — The village of Gambier has been kept busy over the last few weeks, with construction projects, an Arbor Day event, and the planning for upcoming summer events occurring within the village.

Mayor Kachen Kimmell of Gambier told the News that last month’s Arbor Day celebration was a success.

“Almost all of the students from Wiggin Street School came to the Community Park” on April 27, Mayor Kimmell wrote in her Mayor’s report. To the News, she added that the children were all excited about the event, and it doubled as a lesson on trees and their growth.

Earlier in April, Mayor Kimmell and Suzanne Hopkins, Village Administrator, attended the Ohio Region 1 Tree City USA conference in Grove City. Mayor Kimmell reported that “Ohio has more Tree City USAs than any other state.”
