MOUNT VERNON — Sentencing was continued Friday for a Mount Vernon man who pleaded to an assault charge, but denied the victims in the assault included his long-time girlfriend.

Isaiah K. McPeak, 37, pleaded guilty in Knox County Common Pleas Court to aggravated assault, a charge that stems from McPeak assaulting his girlfriend of 23 years and the man she was in bed with on Nov. 29, 2017.

The aggravated assault charge was amended down from aggravated burglary in exchange for McPeak’s guilty plea. Charges of robbery and two counts of petty theft were also dismissed.

Speaking in court Friday, McPeak admitted to assaulting the man but not his girlfriend. However, Knox County Prosecuting Attorney Chip McConville and the girlfriend said McPeak did assault her.
