MOUNT VERNON — Three weeks into the Pleasant Street reconstruction project, the water and sanitary sewers are in service, including two connections that weren’t listed in the records they used to plan the project, reported Jason Epley, assistant to the engineer. Curbs and gutters have been poured on West Pleasant Street and work installing the sidewalks on that end of the street will begin Monday.

The storm sewer is also complete.

Epley also reported that bids will be opened May 17 for the Spice Alley, Green Alley and Wooster Road sanitary sewer projects.

Superintendent Dave Carpenter said drywall installation on the new Law Director’s office space at the Plaza Building began this week and the LED light conversion project on the first and second floors will begin Monday. More than 200 fluorescent and incandescent fixtures will be replaced.
