HOWARD — The Johnstown baseball team found the perfect recipe for upsetting a talented East Knox squad — great pitching, even better defense and a couple of timely hits.

The Johnnies scored twice in the first inning and pitcher Luke Myers and the defense made it hold up as they posted a 2-0 victory over the No. 2 seeded Bulldogs in the Division III sectional final Thursday at Howard.

“We got great defense, executed our bunts when we needed to, and had some timely hits in the first inning. We played baseball the way it’s supposed to be played,” said Johnstown coach Justin Richards.
