BLADENSBURG — A commitment to serve the community was celebrated Thursday with the presentation of the Bladensburg Sertoma Service to Mankind and Sertoman of the Year Awards at Bladensburg’s annual Community Awards Dinner. Richard Hill was this year’s Service to Mankind Award winner, and Charles Beatty was presented with Sertoman of the Year.

After dinner, Sertoma Club President Tex St. Clair kicked-off the award ceremony, with the introduction of member Steve Gallwitz to present the first award.

The Service to Mankind Award is something the club gives to a non-Sertoma member who selflessly gives back to the community. This year, the club awarded Hill that honor because of what Gallwitz described as an endless dedication to the Bladensburg community.
