FREDERICKTOWN — In an otherwise routine board of education meeting, Fredericktown Local Schools has approved entering into a contract with the village of Fredericktown to hire a full-time school resource officer.

Superintendent Matt Chrispin was on hand at the Village Council meeting Monday evening to discuss and answer questions about the implementation of a full-time SRO in the district. He explained at the board meeting that this is the fifth year the district has had an part-time SRO.

“It’s going to be a great thing to have a person there full time,” Chrispin said, “because it always seems like when something happens they call me and I ask where is the SRO and they say ‘today’s his day off’ or ‘he’s already left for the day’ or something like that. I know these folks will appreciate having them full time.”
