MOUNT VERNON — A charge of inducing panic was dismissed after video surveillance showed the defendant to be in another place at the same time as the alleged crime.

Mount Vernon City Law Director Rob Broeren said the charge, brought against Eric Stump, 55, Mount Vernon, was dismissed because of “video evidence” that showed Stump to be elsewhere when the alleged crime occurred.

Broeren said he plans to re-file the charge. Broeren declined to discuss who the charge will be brought against.
