MOUNT VERNON — Three big triples from Modern Builders helped contribute to the team’s momentum in defeating Griffin Insurance, 5-2, Thursday in a Mount Vernon Major League baseball match-up.

Modern Builders’ Aiden Nesbit started off with a well-hit RBI single in the top of the second inning which later led to Bracen Davis, Konnor Daughriety, and Wes Neighbarger all hitting big triples and Zach Karns smacking a double.

Davis had a phenomenal start on the mound. He struck out five batters in the two innings he pitched and allowed no runs. Dawson Neighbarger later pitched 2 2/3 innings while throwing two strikeouts. To end the game, Daughriety threw three strikeouts and secured the victory.
