MOUNT VERNON — Robert C. “Bob” Totman, 79, of Mount Vernon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Mount Vernon, the son of Earl and Dorothy (Frank) Totman. Robert served in the United States Air Force serving his country from 1957 to 1961. He worked 13 years for Pittsburgh Plate Glass before retiring in 2005 after 27 years of employment as an electrician with the Mount Vernon Developmental Center.

Robert was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. In his free time Robert enjoyed outdoor activities such as kayaking, fishing, hiking, bicycling and photography. He also liked to lift weights and work in his wood shop, but most important to him was the quality time he spent with his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by his high school sweet heart and wife of 60 years, Virginia “Ginny” (Baney) Totman; his children, Terry (Lori) Totman, Tammy (Kerry) Goetzman and Debbie (Mike) Nauman; four grandchildren, Bob (Ashli) Goetzman, Kelly (Todd) Hawkins, Amanda (Jeremy) Hubbard and Tracy (Luke) Mickley; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madilynn Goetzman, Carter and Quinn Hawkins, Reese, Cohen and Brooks Hubbard and Cora Mickley. He is also survived by his nieces, Brenda Totman, Suzette Romani, Kristen Davidson, Natalie Barnes, Barbara Koch and Christina Kuninger; nephews, Rick Baney, Steve Baney and Michael Kuninger; special friends, John Baney, Bill Ernst, Phil Frost, Dewey Bandy and Joe Humbert.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Totman (2017).

A Celebration of Life Service with military honors provided will be held on Friday, April 27, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 8764 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Pastor Doug Forsythe will be officiating. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Robert C. “Bob” Totman.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Knox Starting Point, 11 Woodlake Trail, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, or the Ariel Foundation Park (Handicap Accessible Kayak Launch) in care of the Foundation Park Conservancy, 10 Pittsburgh Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
